SLED to conduct statewide test of amber alert system
COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)– If your phone goes off with an alarm this afternoon it’s a test.
The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division will conduct a statewide test of the amber alert system.
The test will take place between 2 p.m. and 3 p.m. and the alert will activate on cell phones within the state.
SLED says this test is just a safety exercise, and is part of ongoing safety measures to ensure that new technology integrates into the existing State Emergency Alert System.
