SCDEW: Unemployment rate in state increases

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)– Officials with the SC Department of Employment and Workforce say the unemployment rate in the state has increased.

Officials say as of January of this year there are more than 130,000 people claiming unemployment insurance in the state, bringing the jobless rate to 4.9%.

That is a significant increase from the same time last year when more than 25,000 were on unemployment.
