Raheem Smith, 33, is charged with attempted murder and possession of a firearm or ammunition by a person convicted of certain crimes, according to arrest warrants.

Lexington Co. Sheriff’s Dept. says, detectives found video from a doorbell camera of Smith trying to run over a child after they got out of Smith’s car.

“The child was able to avoid being hit,” Lexington County Sheriff Jay Koon states.

Smith is also accused of being seen trying to remove the doorbell from the front door in an attempt to obscure evidence of the crime after the victim ran inside.

“Deputies also found Smith to be possession of a firearm. He was previously convicted of a felony that carries a maximum penalty of more than one year in prison,” Sheriff Koon concludes.

Smith is being held at the Lexington County Detention Center.
