Kershaw County “Screw Bandit” sentenced in relation to road incident

KERSHAW COUNTY, S.C.(WOLO)– A man Kershaw County deputies dubbed as “The Screw Bandit” has been sentenced.

Michael Branham pleaded guilty to stalking, malicious injury to personal property and breach of peace aggravated in nature.

According to investigators, from July of 2025 to January of this year, Branham admitted to placing screws and other sharp objects on the roads his ex-girlfriend regularly traveled on hoping to flatten her tires.

The screws caused dozens of flat tires along Watts Hill Road and Donna Drive.

He was sentenced to five years in a corrections facility which was suspended on probation for five years requiring he repays nearly $15,000 in restitution to the 41 victims affected.
