Columbia PD investigating death on Benton Street

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)– Columbia PD is investigating a death on Benton Street, says the dept.

Wednesday afternoon, April 22, around 12:30 p.m. officers responded in the 1100 block of Benton Street in the Main Street area near Elmwood Park neighborhood to serve an arrest warrant at a home.

Upon entry into the home, officers found a deceased male with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.

The Richland County Coroner’s Office is working to confirm the identity and will notify next of kin.

Police say no foul play is suspected.
