RCSD investigating report of road rage that led to gas station fire

RICHLAND COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– Richland County Sheriff’s Department is investigating a report of road rage that led to a fire involving multiple vehicles at a gas station on Sunday afternoon.

The incident happened on May 17, in the 100 block of Lee Road around 1 p.m.

Deputies were dispatched to a disturbance in the 1400 block of Summit Pkwy from a caller claiming to being chased by another vehicle.

While deputies were enroute to the location, the incident was updated to a multiple vehicle collision with vehicle on fire at the Spinx gas station.

Columbia-Richland Fire Dept., was at the scene working on putting the fire out when deputies arrived.

Two people were injured and taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries, says RCSD.

Deputies were able to determine that three vehicles were affected during the fire.

While speaking with the original caller, she stated that a vehicle was following her prior to the incident but left the area after the collision occurred, say deputies.

This is an ongoing investigation.
