1 killed; 1 injured in collision on SC-6 in Orangeburg Sunday

ORANGEBURG CO., S.C. (WOLO) – Highway Patrol says one person is dead and another is injured following a collision Sunday night.

It happened at SC-6 near the intersection of Tee Vee Road in Elloree at 8:30 p.m. on May 24.

According to Master Trooper William Bennett, a 2018 Dodge Sedan traveling south attempted to turn left onto SC-6, when a 2023 Freightliner Tractor-Trailer traveling west on SC-6 collided with the Dodge Sedan.

The Dodge Sedan driver died on scene, while the tractor-trailer driver was injured and taken to the hospital.

The Orangeburg County Coroner’s Office identified the Dodge Sedan driver as Charlie Shuler, 42, of Santee.

Coroner Fogle says Shuler died due to blunt force injuries that occurred during the collision.

His manner of death is classified as an accident.

Highway Patrol continues to investigate.
