Victim identified in train vs. pedestrian collision in Clarendon Co.
CLARENDON CO., S.C. (WOLO) – The Clarendon County Coroner’s Office has identified the pedestrian struck and killed by a train on Sunday.
Coroner Jacqueline Blackwell identified the victim as Xavier Devon Knight, 23, of Sumter.
According to investigators, at 4:15 p.m., Knight and his friend were fishing near 1001 Ramsal Road and June Burn Road when a CSX train came around the track blowing its horn.
Officials say Knight didn’t get off the track in time before being struck by the train. Knight died on scene from his injuries.
CSX officials say the train stopped and they responded to the scene as they are investigating the incident.
