BREAKING: Sen. Josh Kimbrell suspends campaign for SC governor

COLUMBIA, SC (WOLO) – The field to be the Republican nominee for South Carolina’s next governor is down by one after Sen. Josh Kimbrell announced on social media he was suspending his campaign Wednesday night.

In a video post, Kimbrell talked about how it was an honor to run for governor, but said this has been “…some of the nastiest politics I’ve ever experienced in my life.”

For now, he told supporters in the video that plans to return to his work in the South Carolina Senate, and that he will assess who he will support moving forward.
