Lawmakers move to deny $5 million for SC State convocation center
COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)– There is another effort to deny funding to South Carolina State University following the decision to remove Lieutenant Governor Pamela Evette as commencement speaker.
This week a group of seven Republican representatives sent a letter to the House Labor, Commerce, and Industry Committee requesting a $5 million expenditure for a convocation center at South Carolina State University not be included in the House’s budget.
The letters authors say the denial would be a punishment for the school denying free speech on the school’s campus.
