AMC has highest ticket sales since 2019

(CNN)– AMC reported it sold $25.5 million tickets worldwide in May.

That may not be back to pre-pandemic levels, but it’s the best May the world’s largest theater owner has seen since 2019.

It also marks an upward trend for theatrical releases this year.

That’s been helped by big films like “The Mandalorian andGrogu,” “Michael,” and “Project Hail Mary.”

Breakout hit “Backrooms” also shocked the industry last weekend when the $10 million film raked in an unexpected $81 million.
