SC Democratic Party meet after Election Commission certifies primary results

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)– The South Carolina Election Commission has now certified primary results for the Democratic Party.

Nominees met outside the Election Commission’s office on Lady Street following the formal recognition.

Now certified candidates include State Representative Jermaine Johnson for Governor and Sylvia Wright for Superintendent of Education.

Results were also certified for Dr. Annie Andrews, the Democratic candidate for U.S. Senate.

Andrews will face incumbent Senator Lindsey Graham on the GOP side.

And Lieutenant Governor Pamela Evette will go head-to-head against Attorney General Alan Wilson in a runoff on June 23.

The results of that runoff will determine who Johnson will battle in November’s election.

Wright will face off against incumbent Ellen Weaver for Superintendent of Education.
