COLUMBIA, SC (WOLO)- AAA projects 72 million Americans will travel during the July 4th holiday period, setting a new record.
This year’s projection is only a half percent increase from last year though, AAA says rising inflation can take a toll.
More than 61 million will hit the road, while air travel remains steady.

Cruising and other modes of transportation see the strongest growth.
AAA says drivers looking to avoid the heaviest traffic should leave early in the day or consider traveling on Monday or Tuesday.
