CAE touts busiest May in the airport’s history
Columbia Metropolitan Airport (CAE) broke a 21-year-old record last month, when it experienced its busiest May in the airport’s history.
More than 65,400 passengers passed through the airport in May. The previous record set the same month in 2005 was just over 63,500 travelers.
Airport officials say more Midlands residents are choosing to fly local, and airlines are taking notice by increasing seat capacity in the market, as well as aircraft size for certain flights.
“This continued air service growth provides more options for the traveling community to utilize their local airport; and the more they do, the more air service we’ll continue to see,” said Vice President of Marketing & Air Service Development Kim Crafton.
In the coming weeks, CAE says it will offer five daily nonstop flights to Chicago O’hare International Airport.
