Columbia Police give behind the scenes look at gun crime detection tech

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)– Tuesday, June 30, ABC Columbia got a behind the scenes look at some of the technology the Columbia Police Department uses to keep the community safe.

Officials at the department’s real time crime center demonstrated shot spotter technology and gun crime detection, crime analysis, and public safety intelligence, and other efforts to address gun-related crime and improve response capabilities.   

Police add that community organizations like assisting Columbia’s elderly, the police athletic league, and the city’s parks and recreation department help officers connect with residents.
