Fairfield County arrest leads to drug, firearm charges
FAIRFIELD COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– Fairfield County deputies say an arrest leads to drug, and firearm charges on Wednesday.

On Wednesday, July 1, 2026, patrol deputies with the Fairfield County Sheriff’s Office conducted a traffic stop in the Winnsboro community that resulted in the arrest of Robert Antonio James Jr. for driving under suspension.
During a search, deputies discovered a quantity of cocaine base in James’ possession, say deputies.
Following the arrest, investigators with the Fairfield County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Unit executed a search warrant at James’ home on Oak Street.
The search resulted in the recovery of additional narcotics and a firearm, leading to the following charges:
- Two counts of Possession with Intent to Distribute Cocaine (Third Offense)
- Possession with Intent to Distribute Marijuana
- Possession of Cocaine Base (Third Offense)
- Possession of a Stolen Firearm
- Possession of a Firearm by a Person Convicted of Possession with Intent to Distribute
- Possession of a Firearm by a Person Convicted of Certain Crimes
James was taken into custody and then taken to the Fairfield County Detention Center, where he remains pending judicial proceedings.
