COLUMBIA, SC (WOLO) — Parents planning for back-to-school shopping can go ahead and plan to take advantage of South Carolina’s 2026 Tax Free Weekend happening Aug. 7-9, 2026.
According to the South Carolina Department of Revenue (SCDOR), state law allows shoppers to purchase eligible items without paying state or local Sales Tax during the weekend event.
To help shoppers know what items are eligible for Tax Free Weekend, SCDOR has provided the following categories:
1. School supplies
2. Computers and technology
3. Clothing and footwear
4. Certain bed and bath items
Eligible items are still tax-free when purchased online.
