Lexington Co. coroner identifies person who dies after 3-vehicle collision
LEXINGTON COUNTY, S.C.(WOLO)– Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher has released the name of the person who was identified as the victim of a 3-vehicle collision, says the coroner’s office.
The person was killed in a three-vehicle collision that involved a tractor-trailer on Weds, July 8, at the intersection of W.E. Jeffcoat Road, and Hwy 6 in the Swansea area around 6:50 a.m.
Coroner Fisher says Donerell M. Lykes, 36, of Columbia was operating a vehicle that was traveling north on W.E. Jeffcoat Road when he failed to stop for the stop sign at W.E. Jeffcoat Road at Hwy 6, and his vehicle was hit by a tractor-trailer traveling east on Hwy 6.
Lykes was ejected from his vehicle and was then hit by another vehicle that was traveling west on Hwy 6, say officials.
The third vehicle left the incident area before first responders arrived.
He was pronounced dead at the scene due to his injuries after the incident.
The collision remains under investigation by the SC Highway Patrol MAIT Team as well as the Lexington County Coroner’s Office.
