Netflix in talks to buy Letterboxd

(CNN)– Netflix is among the companies vying to buy a social media platform for film lovers.

Letterboxd was founded in 2011, majority-owned by a Canadian company and 40% held by its original co-founders.

Now Variety reports that the company is in talks with multiple possible buyers for its app and website.

The suitors could include Netflix, along with Sony Pictures, Paramount Skydance, and a venture capital firm led by Reddit Co-creator Alexis Ohanian.

Letterboxed currently has more than 30-million members including around 10 million added in the past year.
