Public health groups sue FDA

(CNN)– Several public health groups are suing the Food and Drug Administration.

The coalition wants to block a recent policy that may allow several new flavored e-cigarettes and nicotine patches to join the market without going through the required review process.

That could result in a rash of new items including tobacco pouches, being available for purchase within the next few months.

The coalition includes the campaign for Tobacco-free Kids, The American Lung Association and The American Academy of Pediatrics.

An FDA spokeswoman declined to offer a comment regarding the litigation.
