Baby gator found in Prosperity ditch

PROSPERITY, S.C. (WOLO)– You probably won’t rush to adopt a baby alligator but the Prosperity Police Department recently helped keep one safe.

A department spokesperson says officers responded to reports of the baby gator in a ditch near Highway 76 and Langford Street.

Police say the animal was safely recovered and turned over to the SC Department of Natural Resources.

Officers remind you that if you encounter wildlife do not approach or attempt to handle it instead call local law enforcement or wildlife authorities.
