Third suspect sentenced for 2022 shooting death of teen in Kershaw

 

KERSHAW CO., S.C. (WOLO) – A third suspect has been sentenced for a drive-by shooting that killed a teenager back in 2022.

Deshon Kirkland, 22, was sentenced to 20 years in prison after pleading guilty to one count of voluntary manslaughter and two counts of attempted murder.

This comes after Troy Keitt Jr., 26, & Ti’Yon Harriot, 25, were both sentenced to life in prison for murder.

According to investigators, on July 17, 2022, all three suspects participated in a plan to follow the victims’ vehicle from Watts Hill Road onto Hwy 1 where one of them shot the vehicle.

Justice Rutherford, 17, was killed, another juvenile was injured and a third person in the car wasn’t hurt.

All three suspects are serving time in the South Carolina Department of Corrections.
