Democrats approve new primary election calendar, SC picked first

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)– The Democratic National Committee has chosen South Carolina to be the first state in the Democratic Presidential Primary process for 2028.

The South Carolina Primary will be held January 22 of 2028 followed by Nevada, New Hampshire, New Mexico, Michigan and Virginia.

Committee Chair Ken Martin said these states reflect the diversity of America and will help ensure our nominee is best positioned to take back the White House in 2028.
