Strawberry prices could rise
(CNN)– A Commerce Department report expected by Tuesday, Aug. 18, eventually could impact the cost of strawberries in the U.S.
It’s based on a case from the Strawberry Growers for Fair Trade.
The Florida producers in that coalition are some of the few U.S. growers that harvest during the Winter.
They say Mexican growers unfairly set strawberry prices too low during that season.
This week’s Commerce report is preliminary and a final determination could take months.
If investigators find unfair practices that could lead to tariffs on strawberries and higher prices.
