Lexington Police warning residents about zoning scam

LEXINGTON, S.C. (WOLO)– Lexington Police say fraudulent emails are being sent to individuals and companies involved in applications for variances, re-zoning, or project approvals through the board of zoning appeals.

Also, police say the e-mails may request payment or fees after an application is already processed.

Officials say application fees for these requests are paid upfront through the town’s official process.

If you get one of these emails contact the Lexington Police Department.
