Minibike driver killed in collision in Sumter Co.

SUMTER CO., S.C. (WOLO) – Highway Patrol says a minibike driver is dead following a collision Sunday.

It happened at Cane Savannah Road near the intersection of Eagle Road at around 6 p.m.

According to Master Trooper William Bennett, a 2025 Buick Envista struck the minibike after attempting to pass.

The driver of the minibike died Monday at the hospital from their injuries while the Buick driver wasn’t hurt.

The Sumter County Coroner’s Office has not released the victim’s identity as the investigation continues.
