1 rescued from Burmaster Drive house fire

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)– CRFD says one person was rescued from a house fire on Burmaster Drive this afternoon.

Firefighters were dispatched to the area shortly before 4 p.m. Monday, August 24.

While en-route to the fire, crews were updated that one person was entrapped in the property.

Engine 24 and Battalion 3 arrived to the area to find smoke coming from the front side of the home and a large amount of fire showing from the back, says CRFD.

Columbia-Richland firefighters made entry through the front door to make the rescue.

After firefighters removed the person from the house, Rescue 3 and Engine 12 began providing medical care until Richland County EMS arrived to the scene.

Firefighters then assisted EMS until the person was taken to an area hospital, according to the Columbia-Richland Fire Dept.

The fire was extinguished and its cause is under investigation by the Richland County Fire Marshal’s Office.

Six people were left displaced by the fire and there were no other injuries.
