30 arrested in connection with drug trafficking

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)– Monday, August 24, the Attorney General’s Office and several low-country law enforcement agencies announced a major victory in the fight against drugs coming into the state.

This afternoon Attorney General Alan Wilson and others say the 30 arrests and state grand jury indictments are in connection with the dismantling of a major cartel narcotics pipeline from Mexico to South Carolina.

Wilson says the investigation grew from investigations into unsanctioned night clubs which became hubs for drug trafficking, prostitution, and gang violence.

Authorities say they anticipate additional arrests stemming from this investigation.
