FDA: No need to avoid iceburg lettuce
(CNN)– Federal health officials say consumers do not need to avoid iceberg lettuce despite an ongoing Cyclospora outbreak.
The FDA says all lettuce connected to the recall is believed to be off store and restaurant shelves.
The outbreak has been linked to more than 11,000 illnesses across 20 states.
Nearly 500 people have been hospitalized and two have died.
Officials say most illnesses began before the July 17 recall.
