Jobs increase, employers cautious

(CNN)– There were more jobs available in July but it may still be difficult to land them.

New data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics shows there were 7.27 million open positions.

That’s 90,000 more than June’s total.

The problem, employers are cautious to pull the hiring trigger.

The number of new hires from June to July fell by 280,000 but layoffs fell out of June through July.

Experts call this a “low-hire, low-fire” labor market.
