Former Sumter Co. Detention Center officer charged with misconduct in office

SUMTER COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– A former Sumter County Detention Center officer has been charged with misconduct in office.

49-year-old Jenaea Wells is charged with furnishing or attempting to furnish a prisoner with contraband and misconduct in office.

According to investigators, Wells is accused of receiving a payment to deliver a substance that is illegal to bring inside the detention center.

And brought that substance into the jail with the intent to provide it to an inmate.

She was booked into the Sumter County Detention Center and was later released on bond.
