Americans paid $100 billion extra in fuel costs

(CNN)– The war in Iran has cost each American household $770 in increased fuel costs.

That’s according to research from Brown University.

It finds the conflict has led to consumers paying an extra $55 billion for gas and $46 billion for diesel.

That’s a total of more than $100 billion.

Researchers arrived at the numbers by estimating what fuel costs would look like had the U.S. not launched attacks in February.

Right now oil is trading at pretty close to $100 per barrel.
