Sheriff: One dead in plane crash

Lee Co., S.C. (WOLO)– Deputies with the Lee Co. Sheriff’s Office say one person was killed in a plane crash this morning.

Officials say it happened on Red Top Rd. in Lynchburg.

In addition to deputies, Lee Co. Fire, EMS, and the coroner’s office are also responding.

Deputies say the FAA is also conducting an investigation.

FAA officials say the Weatherly 620B crashed in a field around 8:15 Thursday morning.

Drivers are asked to avoid the area.
