Gov. Newsom may require Ai “kill switch”

(CNN)– California Governor Gavin Newsom is looking at the idea of requiring Ai companies to add “kill switches” for their most advanced models.

That’s one part of an executive order he signed Friday, September 18, speeding up the implementation of two Ai laws he recently signed.

Newsom said his executive order is partly in response to President Trump calling threats to humanity from an Ai “hoax”.

Newsom’s action also convenes experts who will provide the state with recommendations on how to strengthen existing Ai safety and security laws.
