Heating costs could rise this year

(CNN)– Americans could pay an average of 8.7% more to heat their homes this winter, according to new projections from the National Energy Assistance Directors Association.

It says people who use heating oil might face bills more than 30% higher than last year’s.

That’s as the U.S. war with Iran drives up energy prices.

Customers who heat their homes with electricity could see a 9% jump.

The forecast for propane users is just behind that number.

Natural gas consumers have the lowest predicted increase of 5.8%.
