The automobile collision occurred on Wednesday, September 30, 2026 around 5:50 a.m. at the intersection of Five Chop Road (Hwy 301) and Way Road Santee, S.C.

Zachary M. Herron, 26, of Elloree, S.C. was pronounced dead at the scene.

“Weather conditions played a part in Mr. Herron’s death as it was very foggy in that area this morning. We ask everyone to use extreme caution on the roadway in foggy conditions especially
when approaching intersections and visibility is very low.” Coroner Fogle states.

The Orangeburg County Coroner’s Office and the South Carolina Highway Patrol continue to investigate.
