Polymarket creates new consumer protection safeguards
(CNN)– Prediction site Polymarket is rolling out new safeguards as calls for tighter regulation grow.
Users can now set deposit limits that can’t be immediately reversed or block themselves from the platform.
The company is also partnering with a gambling addiction therapy provider.
The moves come as prediction markets surge in popularity allowing people to wager billions on everything from sports to elections.
Unlike sportsbooks, these sites are classified as federally regulated financial markets, exempting them from state consumer protection laws.
But 44 states are pushing to change that.
