Study: Screen time linked to poor child development
(CNN)– A new study shows screen time is detrimental to children’s development.
Researchers found it leads to poorer outcomes in learning, speech, and emotional regulation.
That was seen universally, among nearly three million kids under 18 years old from 64 different countries.
The senior author of the University of Calgary study says most of the associations were small, but not meaningless.
She also points out that digital technology can support learning and creativity.
The problems come when it gets in the way of sleep, physical activity, or human connection.
The study was published in the journal “Jama Pediatrics”.
