Lake City man arrested by Sumter Co. deputies in connection with burglary

SUMTER COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– A Lake City man was arrested in connection with burglary by Sumter Co. deputies, says SCSO.

Herbert McDowell Jr. was arrested in connection with burglary by Sumter Co. deputies, says SCSO.

On October 1, Herbert McDowell Jr. of Lake City, was arrested by members of the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office and Florence County Sheriff’s Office with the assistance of the State Law Enforcement Division (SLED) on an open burglary 1st degree warrant.

McDowell was taken into custody without incident and then taken to the Sumter County Detention Center where his bond was denied.

Deputies say the warrant was pursuant to an investigation into a burglary which occurred on September 8, 2026, at 1575 Pudding Swamp Road where McDowell is accused of entering the residence and taking several items without permission.
