$6 billion stolen from world’s largest crypto exchange

(CNN)– The world’s largest cryptocurrency exchange Binance has suspended withdrawals after being hacked.

Binance said Thursday night, October 29, the hackers went through an engineer’s laptop to break into its digital wallets and steal $6 billion.

It appears to be the biggest crypto heist ever.

According to multiple crypto-tracing firms, evidence suggests the hack originated in North Korea.

A team of cryptocurrency firms managed to freeze about $3 billion of the stolen loot.

Binance said user funds are safe, and it would cover all losses from the company’s funds and an emergency assets fund.
