Gun, violence summit canceled in North Charleston

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) — A summit for top state elected and law enforcement officials to discuss guns and violence has been canceled.

Friday’s meeting in North Charleston was to include Lt. Gov. Glenn McConnell, Attorney General Alan Wilson, Department of Public Safety Director Leroy Smith and State Law Enforcement Division Chief Mark Keel, along with local law enforcement, mayors and other elected officials.

The idea is to discuss ways to reduce violent crime and gun violence.

There was no word on whether it will be rescheduled.
