Man kills himself after Upstate police chase

LIBERTY, S.C. (AP) — Authorities say a man wanted for an armed robbery in Greenville County killed himself after leading police on a chase.

Anderson County deputies said Albert Couch Jr. drove off after they showed up to investigate a call indicating he was making threats toward an ex-girlfriend.

Officers chased Couch into Pickens County, where authorities say he crashed on U.S. Highway 178, then took out a gun and killed himself.

Investigators say no one else was injured in the incident.
