Columbia Style Week a First in Midlands
COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) — Move over Charlotte. Step aside Charleston. Columbia Style Week is headed to the famously hot capitol city promising flare, fashion and a financial boost to the local economy. Introducing Columbia Style Week 2012. It’s Columbia’s first ever official five-day, five-night fashion extravaganza. Event director, Alicia Zeigler, says she’s banking national and international designers bringing in thousands of dollars to the local economy. “These people are coming from all over, New York, Chicago, Charleston, Peru, to stay in our hotels, eat in our restaurants, shop in retails stores downtown and see Columbia in its beauty,” said Zeigler. That beauty includes what Midlands designers, like Robert Rison of Eclat Tailoring, have to showcase. He believes more exposure will yield more customers, reshape the fabric of the Midlands’ economy and create jobs. Zeigler hopes all business owners and the community will gain more than a walk down the runway. Columbia Style Week 2012 is planned for June 5-9. For more information, visit. columbiastyleweek.com.
