Educator symposium attracts hundreds to Lowcountry
NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) — Hundreds of educators from across South Carolina are meeting on the coast for the second annual Charleston Educator Symposium.
Both national and local speakers are scheduled to address the sessions, which open on Tuesday and continue through Thursday at the School of the Arts High School in North Charleston. More than 600 people are expected to attend the symposium, which is paid for with private dollars.
Speakers include Erin Gruwell, the teacher who inspired the 2007 movie “Freedom Writers” as well as Flip Flippen, a psychotherapist who developed the psychological assessment The Flippen Profile.
