Longtime SC prosecutor facing 2nd alcohol charge
LEXINGTON, S.C. (AP) — Longtime Lexington County prosecutor Donnie Myers has been charged for a second time with an alcohol offense.
The Highway Patrol confirmed Friday Myers was stopped May 25 around 10 p.m. in Lexington County.
WIS-TV first reported (http://bit.ly/LINQ5W ) the stop. In video obtained by the television station, Myers tells a trooper he was swerving because he was listening to a college baseball game on the radio.
Myers said he had two drinks and that his girlfriend left an alcoholic drink in his car.
Myers is scheduled in court June 14 on an open container charge. He didn’t immediately return a message Friday.
Myers pleaded guilty and received one year of probation after he was stopped in Asheville, N.C., in 2005 and was charged with driving under the influence and open container.
