Murder charge dropped against Rock Hill man
ROCK HILL, S.C. (AP) — Prosecutors have dropped a murder charge against a Rock Hill man arrested in a shooting death.
The Herald of Rock Hill reports (http://bit.ly/KCTAvV) that prosecutors declined to say Tuesday what evidence prompted the dismissal of the charge against 47-year-old Harvey McKee.
He was arrested last month and charged in the April shooting death of 31-year-old Jamar Ferguson.
Ferguson had been shot four times when police found him lying in a road. He died at a hospital.
Deputy solicitor Willy Thompson said prosecutors could restore the charge if new evidence comes to light.
McKee had been scheduled to have a probable cause hearing, where his attorney said he had planning to challenge what he saw as weak forensic evidence.
