COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) — Wednesday morning, hundreds wearing garnet and black turned out to send the Gamecock baseball team to Omaha. “We’re just glad to be a part of the best send off in the nation,” says Michael Roth, USC Pitcher. Gamecock fans of all ages, even as young as 8 days old turned out for the event. Some sported their ‘fear the fish’ t-shirts, while others had posters with ‘3-peat’ written on them. However, Reptar did not load the bus with the team, instead he was in Omaha waiting for them. “He went on our equipment bus yesterday, our equipment group drove our equipment truck out there yesterday, so we wouldn’t load the plane down and he was sitting in the front seat of the equipment truck,” says Assistant Coach Chad Holbrook, USC Baseball. USC Head Baseball Coach, Ray Tanner addressed the crowd before the team loaded the bus. “Thank you for your enthusiasm, thank you for your passion,” says Coach Tanner. But he didn’t exactly make any promises on the outcome of the College World Series. “Maybe, maybe, the sun will shine on us and maybe we can bring back another piece of hardware,” says Coach Ray Tanner.
