Woman sentenced in Grand Strand DUI fatal
MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (AP) — A Myrtle Beach woman has been sentenced to five years in prison and a fined $15,000 after pleading guilty to driving under the influence in a fatal crash almost three years ago.
Forty-year-old Lynne Janette Slay pleaded guilty to felony DUI on Tuesday. Slay was sentenced by Circuit Judge Benjamin H. Culbertson.
Slay pleaded in the 2009 crash on U.S. 17 that killed 57-year-old Barianne Boykin-Deas of the Sampit community in Georgetown County. Slay was driving the wrong way in the northbound lanes of the highway when the crash occurred.
The estate of the dead woman has sued Slay and two Myrtle Beach businesses alleging that Slay was served large quantities of alcohol before the crash.
