3 killed in Darlington County crash

HARTSVILLE, S.C. (AP) — Officials have released the names of three people killed in a head-on crash on a rural road in Darlington County.

Coroner Todd Hardee says the accident happened Sunday night outside Hartsville.

Hardee says a car crossed the center lane and hit a second car head on. Two people in one car died while the third victim was in the second car.

The victims were 23-year-old Sherman Christopher Covington Jr., of Darlington, 29-year-old Michael Joseph Sylvester, and his 23-year-old sister, G.C. Reaves, both of Murrells Inlet.

Highway Patrol Lance Cpl. Brent Kelly says a preliminary investigation shows Covington’s vehicle crossed the center line and crashed into Sylvester’s vehicle.
