SC father charged with sexual abuse of 2 daughters

LUGOFF, S.C. (AP) — A mother and father from Kershaw County are awaiting a bond hearing after being charged in connection with the sexual abuse of their two daughters.

Kershaw County Sheriff Jim Matthews says the 36-year-old father and 34-year-old mother were arrested Monday. He’s charged with criminal sexual conduct with a minor under 11 and she’s charged with unlawful neglect upon a child.

Investigators say when they responded to a domestic disturbance call June 11 at the couple’s home, one child said her father had forced her into sexual acts. One girl also said she had told her mother about the abuse several years ago.

Both parents are being held at the county jail.

The Associated Press doesn’t identify victims of sexual abuse and isn’t naming the parents to protect the children’s identities.
